Ogden, UT (November 12, 2021) - Building God’s Way (BGW) hosted the BGW Builder Conference on November 8-9 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center in Ogden, UT. Held every 18 months, partner contractors from all across the U.S. gathered with BGW leadership to share ideas and strategies, discuss challenges and review new opportunities in facility design & construction for churches and Christian schools.
On Monday evening at the conference dinner banquet, several builder partners were recognized for outstanding achievement in the areas of stewardship, job site ministry, and business development. Weaver Commercial Contractor, Inc. (WCC), exclusive BGW Builder for the state of Ohio, West Virginia and Western PA, was one of only two builders that were presented with awards in every category.
WCC was presented with the Ministry of
Construction Award, in recognition of their
outstanding efforts to coordinate ministry outreach on BGW job sites and help church clients impact the lives of workers with the love of Christ. An integral part of the BGW approach since its foundation, the Ministry of Construction program involves organized acts of hospitality, appreciation and kindness to the workers throughout the duration of a construction project.
BGW Architect and Senior Project Manager Josh Felix also presented WCC with the Steve Hartman
Stewardship award in recognition of the outstanding value and savings the company has delivered to BGW clients. A past recipient of this award, WCC consistently delivers construction projects at the lowest costs throughout the country while maintaining the highest quality. The award is named in honor of the late CEO of BGW, Steve Hartman, who was instrumental in bringing innovation and organizational structure to the BGW preconstruction stewardship process, one of the key programs that distinguishes BGW in the marketplace by incorporating valuable subcontractor input prior to the completion of construction drawings. It also leverages construction industry relationships and linkage within the ministry that can lead to significantly reduced costs.
David Hershey, Director of Business Development for WCC, was also presented with an award for excellence in business development. David ranked among the top 3 in the nation in establishing new relationships with ministries. A true ambassador of the BGW program in Ohio West Virginia and Western PA, David has a passion for helping churches build facilities that are relevant and sustainable and enjoys seeing every project come to fruition.
Recently completed projects that BGW and WCC have collaborated on include LifeSpring Community Christian Church in Harrison, OH; Center Pointe Christian Church in Liberty Township, OH; Grace Fellowship in Warren, OH and Discovery Christian Church in Mars, PA. Other ministry projects currently under construction include Waterville United Methodist Church in Waterville, OH and Fairlawn Mennonite Church in Apple Creek, OH.
