Churches & Ministries

Church Building Construction:

Weaver Commercial Contractor (WCC) is devoted to building the ministry.

Foundations Built on Relationship

Above all else, know that the ownership at WCC and many of our employees pursue a vibrant relationship with God. This connection is the foundation upon which we build our business. We enter into long-term relationships with the growing ministries we are privileged to work alongside. Our approach is to address each project as if they were our church, instead of just clients. We have found that when we put Christ in the center of our relationships, and work together as partners in ministry, we discover the perfect solutions for each ministry need represented.

On a Mission to Build

Weaver opened its doors as home builder and developer in 1972. In 1999 WCH General Contractors was developed as a DBA of the residential company and continued growing and expanding. In 2009 the company name changed to Weaver Commercial Contractor, Inc. (WCC). Over the years we have applied our unique expertise and extensive construction experience to millions of square feet on new construction and completed renovation work. Today WCC is known and recognized for its diversity in project experience within the Buckeye State.

We devote considerable time and attention to each new construction project as if it were our only project. Tailoring our services to the individual project means taking into account the vision and culture, and catering to our clients’ emotional needs along with their practical requirements. The experience gained during WCC’s early years enhances our performance, as each project is managed and constructed from an owner’s perspective. Combing this with the many resources that are readily available to us, uniquely qualifies WCC as a valuable construction partner. Our absolute dedication to quality construction and on-time delivery is evident and has been a significant factor in our continued success.

Ron Wenger (President/Owner) has always had a passion for helping churches fulfill their vision. He realized that with four decades of expertise in the construction industry, WCC could be a blessing to growing churches needing to expand. With the understanding more could be done to help churches with the design/build process, WCC partnered with nationally recognized Christian architectural firm, Building God’s Way (BGW) in 2012 to become the exclusive BGW builder for Ohio, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania.

Our Process

Building God’s Way has developed a unique approach to the traditional methodology regarding Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build. Our process integrates biblical principles through Stewardship, Relationship, and Outreach. Over the last twenty years, we have used this process with over 800 ministries nationwide. Many times we are the second, third and sometimes fourth design firm contacted by ministries in desperate need with help with designing and constructing a facility they can actually afford and that meets the needs of their ministry.

STEP 1: Ministry Consultation

Our first step gives your leadership team a look at our overall process. We meet with your leadership and walk them through our process. Helping your team understand who we are and what we bring to your ministry is key. Your team will decide if our process resonates with your ministry, your vision, mission and culture of your ministry.

STEP 2: Ministry Assessment

During this step, we discover the direction and specific needs of your ministry. We meet with staff and key leaders to gain insight that brought you to the point “we need to do something.” Here we look at feasibility both financial and practical. Where are our stress points? Is a building program right for us now? Are we healthy enough to move forward? Do we multi-site, multi-venue? Is a sustainable project viable? How do we breakthrough a growth plateau? Answering these and more questions will lead us to the right answer for your ministry.

STEP 3: Charrette (Conceptual Design)

We utilize a unique conceptual design process called a “charrette”, an intense and highly collaborative effort that takes place over a three day period at the ministry site. This process allows design solutions to evolve quickly with the direct participation of key ministry leaders, WCC project team and real-time adaptations by the architect. During this process, 75–90% of the preliminary design is completed, and the vision of the ministry is captured and translated into preliminary site plans, floor plans, seating diagrams, sketches, and exterior renderings. This package, once finalized by your team, will include a preliminary total cost estimate for your project. This package becomes your vision casting visuals to present to your church.

STEP 4: Funding / Stewardship Campaign

Building God’s Way does offer a unique approach to stewardship campaigns. Our campaign is comprised of three parts, Biblical Entrepreneurship, Planned Giving and a six-week capital campaign. You are not required to use our Stewardship Campaign.

STEP 5: Construction Documents

We strive for a seamless transition from Charrette to construction documents using our preliminary design as the foundation moving forward. There are three teams involved in this step: your ministry design team, the BGW project design team, and the WCC project team. We will have weekly design team meetings to review and discuss the design as we move forward. WCC’s project team will closely monitor the project budget keeping the ministry informed of any cost implications, positive or negative. This process allows the ministry to control the design and budget to prevent costly overruns at the end of the day.

STEP 6: Construction of your facility

WCC will act as Construction Manager/General Contractor for your project. We provide onsite supervision; we will manage and schedule all sub-contractors working on your project. We conduct onsite meetings with the sub-contractors, site superintendent, project manager and ministry representative. These meetings keep everyone up to date on the progress of your project. We continue to look for cost savings to benefit your church as much as possible. We give 100% of any savings we garner back to your ministry. We are an open book, providing transparency for communicating the value we place on honesty and relational integrity.
